About Me
Hi! My name is Marley Bassett and I am a senior at the University of South Carolina. I am majoring in mass communication with a minor in political science. Currently, I am the assistant copy desk chief for The Daily Gamecock and a reporter for The Arena. I am also a freelance writer for The Lexington County Chronicle. Previously, I was the marketing intern for Charleston County Parks and Recreation, an intern for Watershed Consulting Group, and the editor in chief of The Johnsonian at Winthrop University. My love for politics is what inspired me to go into mass communication so I could explain and inform the public about everything going on with the local, state, national and occasionally international political systems.

"Journalism can never be silent: that is its greatest virtue and its greatest fault. It must speak and speak immediately, while the echoes of wonder, the claims of triumph, and the signs of horror are still in the air."
